Thomas A. Burke

89, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Loveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, surrounded by devoted family. Tom was the beloved husband of 54 years to the late Joan M. (Garrity) Burke, loving father of Sarah B. (Paul) Rogozinski and Kelly A. (John Clifford) Burke, and proud Poppa of Erin (Matthew) Swafford, Caitlin (Matthew) Hager, Kevin Rogozinski, Sean (Juliana) and Liam Clifford. He was the doting Papu to Patrick, Maeve, and Caroline Swafford and Conor Hager. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. Burke and Catherine (Manney) Burke and his sister, Maureen (William) Rowland. He is fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Tom was born on April 17, 1936, in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Bryant College, earned a Master of Business Administration from Roosevelt University, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve for 7 years and the US Army (Finance Division) for 2 years. Spending most of his professional life in the field of finance, Tom’s career took him and his family from New York, New York, to Arlington Heights, Illinois; to Omaha, Nebraska; and finally Cincinnati, Ohio where he retired in 1998 as Treasurer for Millennium Petrochemicals Corporation. Tom especially cherished time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enthusiastically supported his grandsons, Sean and Liam while cheering on their football teams at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, Penn State University, Green Bay Packers, and Cincinnati Bengals. He was an avid sports fan and lifelong “subway alum” of Notre Dame football. His Boston Terrier, Ditka, was his loyal companion. The family will celebrate Tom’s life with a private Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at The Community of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8815 E. Kemper Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery immediately follows Mass.
