Robert Frank Wyrick

Robert Frank Wyrick, 87, passed away January 7, 2026. He was born December 29, 1938 at Richmond, Indiana Earl D. and Gladys M. (Duff) Wyrick. Robert attended Milton High School and graduated from there in 1957. He attended Purdue University during the years 1957-1961. He received the Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1961 and the Master of Science Degree in Engineering from Purdue in 1968. Robert was employed by the U. S. Naval Avionics Center Indianapolis for some thirty-three years, 1961-1994. During this time, he participated in the research, design and field testing of many radar systems, fire-control, communications and identification systems used by both aircraft and shipboard equipment. In 1985, while employed at NAC, he began a second career-one which would later call him to full time service-that of Pastor of The First Southern Baptist Church, Lebanon, IN in a bi-vocational role. In 1994, Robert was called to the Acton Baptist Church as it’s Pastor. Retiring from NAC, he accepted the position which he held for 15 years. In 2009, he stepped away from the Ministry, but continued serving his Lord as an adult Sunday school teacher at Warren Baptist Church in Indianapolis. In 2012, he again was called into the Ministry at Buck Creek Baptist Church in Cumberland. He retired from there in 2019. Robert was a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church. Robert, in addition to his educational awards from Purdue, was a Registered Professional Engineer, State of Indiana. He was also a member of Pendragon, which recognizes leadership in the Purdue Men’s Residence Halls. He was active in student government, Mock P Convention and co-chaired campus freshman orientation in 1959 and 1960. Robert was a Minister in the Southern Baptist Convention, being licensed in 1985. He was ordained to the Ministry by the SBC in 1987. Robert had many interests and hobbies-among them being model railroading and amateur radio. He held the Amateur Radio Extra Class License, N9RW. He was an ardent student of the history of the battles and equipment used during World War II. His collection of scale model aircraft of the period 1935-1990, has been on display for many visitors to his home. Robert is survived by his wife, Brenda L. (Bush) Wyrick; daughter, Kathleen D. Brown (Scott); grandsons, Travis Brown and Jason Wyrick; granddaughters, Mikayla Brown and Mariah Van Wyk; great-granddaughters, Rheann and Aria; and daughter-in-law, Shelly Wyrick. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as son, Robert Keith Wyrick and sister, Iva June Caldwell. Friends may call Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington Street. Burial will follow at the Wyrick family plot, Valley Grove Cemetery, Milton, Indiana. Memorial contributions in memory Robert F.
