Patricia "Darlene" Hamilton

Patricia “Darlene” Hamilton, 79, of Noblesville, passed away March 15, 2022. She was born October 14, 1942 in Sikeston, MO. She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Terry Hamilton; daughters, Erin (Jonathan) Smith and Debbie Hamilton; grandchildren, Sullivan and Sawyer Smith and Tyler Martin; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Tylen; sister, Cecilia (Jerry) Duley and family; brother, Bob (Dana) Mott; and a host of loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; sons, Doug Hamilton and Mark Welch, we are grateful they are united again. Although she was born Patricia, she went by her middle name, Darlene. This was customary in her hometown of Sikeston, Missouri, aka the boot heel. She was a stunning beauty with a beautiful voice. Darlene competed in many beauty pageants and was crowned Miss Sikeston in 1959. She was also a member of a vocal ensemble, the Sextets. She showed her community spirit in a club called the Red Peppers, cheering on the local teams. Darlene later moved to Avon, Indiana where she married the love of her life, Terry Hamilton in 1975. Together, they owned and operated Prestwick Country Club for the next 20 years. They partnered with the development of Prestwick, while raising their family there together. In 2000, Darlene and Terry retired to Lake Placid, Florida, where they met many lifelong friends. In 2007, they moved back to Indiana to enjoy being surrounded by family, children, and grandchildren. Darlene was a strong, fierce, and loyal woman; to be loved by her was the greatest gift one could hope for. She loved the art of cooking and would generously share recipes and advice. Her grandchildren have fond memories of their times together in the kitchen, squeezing lemons for lemonade and making homemade popsicles. Her family is honored to continue her legacy through her recipes, her open-hearted approach to life and through the love of music that she instilled in all of us. We promise to keep singing! Family and friends are invited to her Celebration of Life, Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Road, Fishers, IN 46038. Visitation from 12 noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. There will be a wake to follow. *A special shout out to Darlene’s caregiving team whose support allowed us sacred time together.
