Kathleen Marie Ochs

Kathleen Marie Ochs, Indianapolis, IN – Kathleen “Kathy” Marie Ochs, 80, a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025. She was born on April 3, 1945, to the late Everett L. and Mary Ellen (Shewman) Casterline. Kathy was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart High School, where she made lifelong friends. In 1973, she married the love of her life, Ronald Ochs, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and family. She worked for many years as a bank teller for AFNB, where her kindness and cheerful personality made her a favorite among customers and coworkers alike. Kathy had a gift for making every place she touched feel warm and welcoming. She loved gardening and could often be found outside tending to her flowers – especially her sun patients planted in the window well by the driveway. When she wasn’t in the garden, she enjoyed relaxing with a good puzzle or playing card games like euchre with family and friends. Some of her favorite moments were spent around the table laughing and playing Skippo with her Sisters and Flow – where her competitive streak always showed, and she was known to “bend the rules” just a little if it meant winning. These were times creating memories that always ended with smiles and stories to tell and full of laughter. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church (formerly St. Bernadette Catholic Church) and a proud member of the Red Hat Society. Her faith and friendships were central to her life, and she brought joy and humor wherever she went. Kathy is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Ronald Ochs; her children, Kelly L. Michael (Scott Wood), Robb D. Ochs (Scott Deal), and Ronda M. Ochs; grandchildren, Lauren Ligon (Nate), Emily Read (Paul), Ben Ochs, Alexandra Cook (Tyler), John Ochs, Nash Ochs-Wald, and Wyatt Ochs-Wald; her sisters, Juldy Shackleford (Larry), Kay Dufek (John), and Mary Jane Fleenor; her brother, Steve Casterline; and four great-grandchildren who brought her so much happiness. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 East Washington Street, Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 5333 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219. Kathy will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and the love she poured into her family and friend – and for how she made even the simplest moments feel special.
