Rev. Edward Goddard

Edward Goddard January 10, 1949 – March 25, 2026 Edward Goddard a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and pastor within the United Pentecostal Church International, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday morning, March 25, 2026. A third generation Pentecostal, Edward was raised near Indianapolis, Indiana, where his life was profoundly shaped by the ministry of his pastor, Rev. Nathaniel A. Urshan, and youth pastor, Rev. J. Hugh Rose, at Calvary Tabernacle, Indianapolis. Though quiet and reserved in his youth, he felt a call to ministry early in life. It was also during this time that he met Linda Hobson, whom he married on June 22, 1968. Together, they shared a lifelong partnership in apostolic ministry. Edward attended Apostolic Bible College in St. Paul, Minnesota, before beginning his ministerial journey. In 1971, he and Linda moved to Tupelo, Mississippi, where he served at Tupelo Children’s Mansion. Two years later, they relocated to St. Louis, Missouri, where he served as a youth pastor under the ministry of Rev. Winfred Black at Apostolic Pentecostal Church (better known as 13th and Gravois), as well as principal of Crossroads Christian School-an experience that helped shape his pastoral ministry and deepened his lifelong passion for investing in young people. In 1979, Edward and his family moved to Canada, where he pastored churches in Dawson Creek, Langley, and Vancouver, British Columbia, each experiencing significant growth under his leadership. In 1988, he became pastor of First United Pentecostal Church in Saint John, New Brunswick, where he served faithfully for 17 years. In 2005, Edward returned to the United States to assume the pastorate in Anderson, South Carolina. He served as Senior Pastor for ten years before transitioning to the role of Bishop, in which he faithfully served for an additional five years. Throughout his ministry, Edward held numerous leadership roles within the United Pentecostal Church International. He served as Home Missions Director for British Columbia, Regional Director for Home Missions, Executive Presbyter of Canada, District Superintendent of the Atlantic District, Secretary-Treasurer for the United Pentecostal Church of Canada, president of Northeast Christian College, District Superintendent of South Carolina, member of the Minister’s Appeal Council, member of the UPCI Budget Committee and the Judicial Procedure Committee, contributing his wisdom and experience to the broader work of the church. Over the course of more than 50 years in full-time ministry, 40 years as a pastor, Edward was known for his strong leadership, administrative insight, and deep love for the church. He had a special love for young people and was deeply committed to mentoring and guiding the next generation of ministers and leaders. His influence extended across the United States and Canada, impacting countless lives through his preaching, leadership, and personal investment in others. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 31, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. at Restoration Church, 1040 Fairgrounds Road, St. Charles, MO 63301. Interment will take place Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, 620 West Main Street, Greenwood, IN 46142. A celebration honoring his life will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Calvary Tabernacle, 902 Fletcher Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46203. Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Hobson Goddard; his children, Lorraine (Rev. Antonio Mansinho) and Brian (Meagan McClintock Goddard); his grandchildren, Shauna Mansinho McGhee (James McGhee), Adena Mansinho Beebe (Caleb Beebe), Hailey Goddard, and Jaden Goddard; and his great-grandchildren, Malachi, Adalyn, Antonio, and Sebastian McGhee, and Nolan Beebe; two brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Marjorie Goddard; his sister, Donna Goddard Black; three brothers-in-law, and three nephews. He will be remembered as a faithful servant of God, a compassionate pastor, and a man who dedicated his life to ministry, leadership, and the people he so dearly loved.
