Betty Lou (Walton) O'Sha

Betty Lou (Walton) O’Sha, Betty Lou Walton was born in Guthrie, Kentucky, to the late Hubert W. and Minnie E. (Butler) Walton, one of 13 children in a warm and close-knit family. On March 15, 1955, she married the love of her life, Christa O’Sha, Jr. They spent 45 very happy years together until his death on December 20, 2000. She adored him, and he adored her right back. A loving mother and grandmother, and a faithful servant of the Lord, Betty poured her life into her family. She was very involved with her church community, where she volunteered for years in the children’s ministry. Betty and Chris, who served as precinct chairman in their area, worked the polls together every Election Day for decades ensuring thousands of Hoosiers could easily vote. Betty was impeccable in the things she did. She was a meticulous and fast typist who prepared everything perfectly, from work documents to dissertations written by family members. Her grandchildren often wore Halloween costumes she had carefully sewn. A gifted baker and generous hostess, she was known for her Christmas treats and large Thanksgiving meals, lovingly prepared with Chris. Her stuffing, in particular, was legendary. She happily opened her home to many visits from her far-flung family, and there was always room at her table for another person. Betty was a kind, gentle, and wise person who was deeply loved and appreciated. She was a good neighbor and true friend to many. She will be so missed. Visitation will be Monday, December 8, 2025 from 12 noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 East Washington Street. Betty is survived by her children and stepchildren; Janet Slifer, Kimberley Coplen (Jim), and Michele Alyea (Jimmy); son-in-law, Kevin Hagan and daughter-in-law, Patricia O’Sha. She was a beloved Mamaw/Grandma to 13 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Krisann Hagan; stepsons, Christa O’Sha III, Steven O’Sha and Barry O’Sha; and son-in-law, Lanny Slifer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Rosegate for their many years of kindness and love.
