Ann Marie Sutton

62, of Indianapolis, passed away June 16, 2026. She was born September 2, 1963, in Indianapolis to the late Frank and Mary (Reid) Skinner. Ann was a graduate of Scecina Memorial High School. She received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University and her Juris Doctorate from IU McKinney School of Law. Ann was a public defender for the Marion County Courts for over 35 years and a longtime member of Little Flower Catholic Church. Ann was a tireless defender for social justice and criminal justice reform. She spent her life dedicated to providing an exemplary defense to those who the legal system so often overlooks. She was often found providing guidance and mentorships to those following in her footsteps. Outside of work, she poured her time and heart into raising her two lovely daughters. She took pride in being a mom and was often found in every area of her children's lives, whether that be coaching CYO sports, or attending band/choir recitals. Ann and her partner Mike loved to travel and explore new places and cultures as well as going on walks with their "fur baby" Sammy. After the loss of her parents Ann became the glue that held her family together. She loved hosting all the holidays and seeing her loved ones all in the same room. Ann Sutton was a mother, daughter, spouse and overall, an extraordinarily strong woman. In the end, she still held the light in all of these roles, may she find eternal peace. Visitation will be on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with the eulogy beginning at 10:30 a.m. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, 4720 East 13th Street. Ann is survived by her daughters, Audrey Sutton and Ariel Sutton; partner, Mike Strebing; brothers, Doug Skinner, David Skinner (Anne) and Andy Skinner (Brenda); nephews, Adam, Will, Jacob, Nate, Alec, Matthew and Benton; and her beloved furry companion, Sammy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry and/or the Humane Society of Indianapolis and/or Little Flower Catholic Church. Final arrangements and care are entrusted to Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel.
