May 27, 1926 - July 24, 2021
Wylma Dean Kasberg passed away on the 24th of July 2021. Born on the 27th of May 1926, in Horse Cave, Kentucky, Wylma the was the daughter of Albert Lester Hensley from Monroe, KY, and Emma (Morrison) Hensley from Elizabethtown, KY. After living in Kentucky for her first eight years, where she attended school in a one-room schoolhouse, she spent the rest of her childhood and all her high school years on the eastside of Indianapolis. Wylma was a proud graduate of Shortridge High School, Class of 1945, and she attended Butler University where she studied elementary education. She worked at Eli Lilly and Company, where she met her future husband Robert (Bob) Kasberg of Indianapolis. They married on the 10th of January 1948 and raised a family of six children. Both she and Bob were avid bridge players who enjoyed dancing and travelling. Wylma especially cherished her memories of travelling through Europe. She prided herself on being a professional housewife, at which she excelled. Over time and with much practice and enthusiasm, she developed a great talent for interior decorating. Converting to Roman Catholicism in 1948, Wylma was a long-time member of St Joan of Arc Catholic Church and later St Matthew Catholic Church. She is survived by five of her six children: Claudia Alerding (Mike), Robert, Jr, Ph.D. (Katherine Lee), John (Lynda Richardson), Linda Viehmann (Mark), and David, Colonel, USAF (retired) (Cecile Mallett). Her husband and her eldest son James (Dianne Bartlett) preceded her in death. Wylma was the grandmother to 19 and the great-grandmother to an ever-growing number of great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 4217 Central Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46205.
