    Robert C. "Tommy" Thompson

    August 24, 1948 - June 18, 2022

Robert C. “Tommy” Thompson, Jr. Passed away June 18, 2022. He was born August 24, 1948 to Robert C. and Shirley Thompson. He was a graduate of North Central High School and went on to I.U. Bloomington where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and had many beloved brothers. He joined the U.S. Army Reserves and then attended the I.U. School of Law, Indianapolis, and graduated in 1973. Tommy worked as a dedicated and respected Deputy Prosecutor under several administrations until he left to begin his private practice of law dealing mainly with probate issues until his death. Those in his firm enjoyed his wonderful company and relied upon him as a loyal partner respected for his knowledge of the law. He was a mentor in the area of probate law and respected by lawyers and judges alike. Tommy loved his home and family in the Mud Creek Valley. He would often be seen on his John Deere with his dog Wills doing the landscape chores and feeding the deer. He continued those traditions after his wife Jean preceded him in death March of 2019. As he told his friend, Bob Hammerle, several days before passing, he accepted death as long as he could be buried next to his beloved Jean. Tommy is survived by his brother, John F. Thompson (Kathy) of Kokomo; and his son, Bobby Thompson, who provided the necessary and loving care at the end of his life. Tommy had an encyclopedia of jokes in his memory and could respond correctly to nearly any question involving trivia. He was a pitcher for years on the Bar Association softball team known as Roscoe’s Barbeque Planet. Tommy was an avid horse enthusiast who could name all the Kentucky Derby winners of all times. When meeting with him, his first question would be “Do you know any jokes?”. Not only was he intelligent, kind and caring, but also had a tremendous sense of humor and would hold court at any gathering. He will be sorely missed by so many clients, friends, and colleagues. Visitation will be Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Road. Robby is truly grateful for the wonderful service provided by Senior Home Companions in caring for Tommy in his final days. Memorial contributions may be made to Agape Therapeutic Riding, 249 Mt. Pleasant Road, Cicero, IN 46034.
