Richard Lee Benson

February 22, 1942 - December 23, 2020

Richard L. Benson, Age 78 passed away peacefully the morning of December 23, 2020 with his heart full of love and lifelong memories from immediate family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Allie Benson; his brother, Ray Benson; his three children, Heather Kelly, Holly Benson and Rick Benson; and his five grandchildren. Richard was born February 22, 1942 in Joliet, IL and attended Illinois State University, graduating in 1964. He possessed a life-long entrepreneurial spirit running, owning, and managing several business ventures over his career. Over the last 16 years alongside his wife Allie, he was able to combine his work ethic and passion for helping others into running the Massage & Healing center in Indianapolis. The center’s mission to help their clients in “mind, body and spirit” certainly defined who Richard was as a person, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In his late twenties Richard was fortunate to meet and be mentored by a very successful Chicago businessman, philanthropist, and author, W Clement Stone. If asked he could easily recite several of his quotes verbatim. A famous quote from W Clement Stone is as follows: “Be generous. Give to those you love; give to those who love you, give to the fortunate, give to the unfortunate-yes, give especially to those you don’t want to give. You will receive abundance for your giving. The more you give, the more you will have.” For as much love as you have given to your family and others Richard Benson, you have earned an eternity of Abundance and passed as an inspiration to those that loved you and knew you well. You will be deeply missed.
