Michael Joseph Gustin
September 29, 1950 - February 1, 2022
Michael Joseph Gustin, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully February 1, 2022. He was born September 29, 1950 in Logansport, Indiana to the late Joseph H. and Ruth Ann Gustin. Mike was a 1969 graduate of Warren Central High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam, and attended the University of Texas. Mike married Mona Torres in 1995 and was employed as a Lead Health Technician for the Military Entrance Processing Station, Indianapolis for 32 years, retiring in 2017. Mike was a huge advocate/donor for Disabled American Veterans. He was an avid racing fan, loved going to horse tracks, casinos, playing the lottery, fishing and was a huge Colts and Purdue fan. He never met a stranger that didn’t become a friend. He loved many, as they loved him. Our family gained an angel and lost a great friend. Mike is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mona Gustin; son, Michael Dixon (Melissa); daughter, Sarah Dixon; grandchildren, Jordan Knuffke (Drew), Jacob Scotten and Meghan Dixon; sister, Jo Ann Gustin; several beloved nieces and nephews; and "Brother from another mother" Roger Gammons. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Gustin; and two sisters, Diane Moss (Vern) and Jane Norman (Richard). Funeral arrangements are private and entrusted to Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Kidney Foundation.
