James "Frank" Wilkinson

November 13, 1939 - February 22, 2022

James F. “Frank” Wilkinson, 82, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away February 22, 2022 surrounded by family after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born November 13, 1939 in Moreland, Kentucky to the late Ben Earl and Billie Pearl Wilkinson. Frank was a graduate of Manual High School, and later received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, and his Master’s Degree in English from IUPUI. Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and married the love of his life, Barbara Chalmers, October 15, 1960. Frank retired from IPD as a captain after a 20 year career and went on to be a parole officer for an additional 15 years. He was also an avid reader and Civil War buff. A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 9350 East Washington Street, Indianapolis for family and friends. Frank is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Wilkinson; three sons, Mark (Susan) Wilkinson, Michael Wilkinson, and Matthew Wilkinson; brother, John Wilkinson; three grandchildren, Josh Wilkinson, Janna (L.J.) Weston and Josef Wilkinson; several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. Final care and arrangements are entrusted to Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel.
