Debra Rose Schornhorst

Debra “Debbie” Rose Schornhorst, age 54, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016 after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Debbie was born in Sellersburg, IN on November 25, 1961 to Vera Schornhorst and the late Rudolph “Rudy” Schornhorst. As a 1979 graduate of Carmel High School, Debbie participated in the band, was a manager for the Lady Greyhound Volleyball team, and grew up as an active member of the Carmel Pup’s girl’s flag football team. Debbie later worked as a Contract Administrator for Fuji Film Medical for 14 years. In her spare time, Debbie enjoyed scrapbooking, playing cards, listening to Rascal Flatts, and watching the Colts beat the Patriots. Debbie was an avid traveler, touring Europe with her mother, sightseeing at the Grand Canyon, enjoying Canada and Niagara Falls with her cousins and siblings, and numerous camping trips with family and friends. Debbie shared her grace and love for the Lord as a Stephen’s Minister and as Deacon at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. She grew in her faith through great love and friendship at The Great Banquet Retreat. Debra is survived by her mother; Vera Schornhorst; brothers and sister, Eric (Eileen) Schornhorst, Linda Schornhorst, David (Donna) Schornhorst, Michael (Candace) Schornhorst; nieces and nephews, Kevin (Joanna) Schornhorst, Keith (Amanda) Schornhorst, Elizabeth “Betsy” Bradley, Connor Schornhorst, Heidi (Jeremy) Denton, Tammy Gross; great niece and nephews, Will Schornhorst, Cooper Schornhorst, Max Schornhorst, Taylor Schornhorst, and Paul Schornhorst; Cousin, Carl (Beverly) Schornhorst, beloved Uncle Conrad (Connie Sue) Schornhorst; and her beloved cat Peaches 2.0. Debra is preceded in death by her father Rudolph “Rudy” Schornhorst; uncle, Charles Rae (Charlene) Schornhorst. Visitation will be held on Friday March 4, 2016 at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 1605 E. 106th St., Indianapolis, IN 46280 from 4pm to 8pm. Additional visitation will be held Saturday March 5, 2016 from 10am to 11am with Celebration of Life to follow.
