    Carolyn Sue Foshee

    May 22, 1939 - April 26, 2022

Carolyn Sue Foshee peacefully passed away after a brief illness on April 26, 2022, in Hendersonville, Tennessee. She was born Carolyn Sue Downum on May 22, 1939, in Indianapolis, IN, to Lena Marie and Frank William Downum. Carolyn graduated from Howe High School and Indiana University’s School of Education. She had a long career as a beloved educator working in numerous elementary schools and churches in Indianapolis and White House, TN. Her positions included being a literacy teacher, preschool teacher, special education assistant, and instructional aide. Hundreds of children benefitted from her unwavering support and belief in their ability to learn. Carolyn was an avid gardener who always planted and grew more than she needed and shared the bounty of her labors with friends, family, and neighbors. Carolyn made the most amazing desserts and bread. Her yeast rolls were legendary and requested for any family function. She was a huge Indianapolis Colts fan, always watching the games and staying on top of player statistics. Even after retiring from Indianapolis to White House, TN, she proudly displayed her Colts flag on her front door. Carolyn is survived by her twin sister, Betty Snider (Darrell), and her children, Steven (Laura) and Amy Kennett (Mark.) She loved her grandchildren (Maxwell, Bridget, Ric, and Hank) with her whole heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, and her brother Jerry. Carolyn was devout in her Christian beliefs. She lived her life following the scriptures and truly embodied The Golden Rule. Her “Celebration of Life” will be on May 7, 2022, at 11:00 am at The Church at Grace Park, 506 Hester Drive, White House, TN, 37188. She will have a private burial service in Indianapolis, IN. Arrangements made by Hendersonville Funeral Home, Hendersonville, TN and Shirley Brothers. Indianapolis, IN.
