Alan G. Lisle, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away April 2, 2021. He was born October 22, 1933 in Peoria, IL to the late Alan Grant Sr. and Edith (Studer) Lisle. Alan graduated from Peoria’s Woodruff High School, received his BA from Bradley University and Master’s Degrees from University of Southern California and Ball State. He served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force with multiple assignments including the Azores, Turkey and Vietnam. He retired as a Major in 1976, and subsequently worked in PR/Development at Ivy Tech, Marian College and the Scottish Rite Foundation. He was a 33º of the Scottish Rite, a member of Masonic Lodge #717, The Service Club, American Legion, Indianapolis Public Relations Society, and served as a Colonel in the Indiana Chapter of the Air Force Association. Alan was a good man – kind, generous, patriotic and never met a stranger. An avid reader and photographer, he loved adventures, working with stained glass, music, a good bargain and cold beer. He was devoted to his wife, proud of his children, and the biggest fan of his grandkids. Visitation will be Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 12 noon until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. at Irvington United Methodist Church, 30 N. Audubon Rd. Due to COVID restrictions, masks will be required. Alan is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joanne (Chant) Lisle; son, Geoffrey (Cathy) Lisle; daughters, Sandra Lisle McMullen and Dana (John) Unison; grandchildren, Kirby, Emily, Reid, Christopher, Abby Jo, Anna and Rachel; and sisters, Wanda (John) Clark and Karen (Keith) Larson. Contributions to Irvington UMC or a charity of choice are suggested in lieu of flowers.
