Susan Jane "Susie" Snapp

Susan Jane Stanley Snapp passed away unexpectedly in her home on October 6, 2014. She was born in Fortville, IN on May 7, 1944 to Ralph and Mary Ellen Stanley. Susie, as she liked to be called, graduated from Broad Ripple High School and went on to marry her high school sweetheart and the great love of her life David Richard Snapp JR. in 1961. They were then married for time and all eternity in the Logan, Utah temple. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in countless teaching and leadership roles. She served many, but she especially enjoyed teaching and being a mentor to the young teenage girls in her churches youth program. She also loved reading and lead an active lifestyle that included activities such as boating, biking, and skiing. Susie diligently worked to put her husband through college so he could achieve his life long dream to become a registered architect. Soon after he graduated they opened their own architectural firm, David R. Snapp and Associates, here in Indianapolis. She worked tirelessly by her husband’s side to grow their small firm from an office in the garage of their small house to a thriving business with a reputation for excellence. Although she never attended a formal business school, she had a special ability to learn and apply business principles that her hyusband relied on day in and day out. Though she had a mind for business, her greatest desire in life was to be a mom and provide her children with a loving home. She achieved far more. She had four beautiful children who each went into the world in their own unique ways, but all with the beautiful gift she gave them of he unconditional love, along with her strength and guidance. She went on in their adulthood to accept each of her children’s spouses with open arms, and to welcome each grandchild and provide them with the same love and support. She even lived to see her first great grandchild, a beautiful baby girl, born only a few months ago. In addition to her husband of 53 years, Susie is survived by her brother and his wife James and Joann Stanley of Freemont IN, her three sons and their wives David IV and Tracey Snapp of Brownsburg IN, Corey and Jill Snapp of Noblesville IN, Kevin and Stephanie Snapp of Indianapolis IN, her daughter and her husband Karen and Steven Hyska of Hilton Head Island SC, her ten grandchildren David Snapp V, Marcus Snapp, Lauren Szpunar, Cole and Neal Snapp, Maxwell Hyska, Makaylee, Avery, Ridley and Sadie Snapp and her great grandchild Audrey Szpunar. Susie had an amazing affect on everyone she came into contact with. She will be remembered for her charming intellect, wry sense of humor, captivating smile, and her undeniable grace and charm. She lives on in each and every single life she touched. A viewing will be held from 6 to 9pm on Friday, October 10, at Shirley Brothers Mortuary, 9900 Allisonville Road, Fishers IN 46038. A second viewing will be held at 10am with the funeral service beginning at 11am on Saturday, October 11, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 11220 East 30th Street, Indianapolis IN 46229 The burial will be held in private.
