Steven (Steve) E. Dalzell, It is with sadness and love that we share the passing of Steven (Steve) E. Dalzell on January 1, 2019 at his home. He was the only child of Mary Stevens Dalzell and Milford E. Dalzell. Steve was born on June 19, 1944 in Indianapolis. Steve is survived by his college sweetheart and wife of 51 years, Jane Berryman Dalzell; and his beloved son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Janet Dalzell of Indianapolis. Steve was a proud graduate of Washington High School in Indianapolis. Also, he was a graduate of Indiana Central College (now University of Indianapolis) and Butler University. Steve was a career long educator and school administrator in IPS, MSD of Decatur Township and MSD of Warren Township, Indianapolis. Steve will be remembered for his sharp wit, directness, sarcasm and Eeyorian view of the world. He was a talented writer/journalist gifting colleagues, friends and family with humorous notes and opinions and wanted his obituary to be no more than one column inch. Steve loved to travel, packing his lucky buckeye he had since childhood, bringing back a special rock from every destination, enjoying Twizzlers during the drives, and singing “Bye, Bye, Blackbird” in rhythm to the windshield wipers. He found pugs irresistible specifically Prudence, Louie and Gracie having proudly taught each of them to say, “Hello,” and “I love you.” Although he complained about yard work, gardening and landscaping, Steve took great pride in the beautiful results of his hard work. Steve enjoyed listening to his favorite music including Janis Joplin, Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin, James Taylor, Bette Midler and, in particular, “In My Life” by the Beatles. In keeping with Steve’s wishes he was cremated and there will be no visitation or service.
