Ruth Elizabeth (Richey) Bottoms

Ruth Elizabeth (Richey) Bottoms Indianapolis - 90, passed away December 25, 2018 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on February 24, 1928 in Indianapolis to the late Donald and Mary (Bowne) Richey. Ruth was a 1946 graduate of Howe High School. She served as secretary of Englewood Christian Church for seventeen years, where she was a lifelong member. Ruth was a founding member/oﬃcer of Hemophilia of Indiana, serving in several capacities locally and nationally for over 36 years. Ruth had many interests and loved life, doing her best to enjoy it to the fullest. She traveled locally and internationally, even planning trips for her and a few friends. Ruth loved to sing, and enjoyed participating in church as well as a community choir that performed around Indianapolis. She was also an avid reader, working crossword puzzles, and playing a variety of games. Monthly, she was part of a group of ladies who met to play dominoes, eat and just enjoy each other’s companionship. Ruth was a Hoosier, through and through. She loved her community and showed it by being a Precinct Committee woman, volunteered with NESCO, Englewood Christian Church volunteer “historian”, and avid volunteer for Hemophilia of Indiana. In her senior years, she took advantage of Oasis opportunities and even volunteered in those programs. A large part of Ruth’s time and energy was directed toward her church and her personal relationship with Jesus. She was instrumental in planning, organizing and producing many events at Englewood Christian Church. Her faith in God was a priority that was evident to all. Her day began with her daily devotions, and quiet time. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Nancy Storms (Roger) of Chandler, Arizona and Brenda Burns (Thomas) of McKinney, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, William M. Bottoms; daughter, Martha Condos; two sons, G. William (Bill) and Gary Bottoms; and two grandchildren, Jeremy Storms and Belinda Burns. Of course, her family brought her great joy. Family reunions, studying the family genealogy and celebrations were a true source of her happiness. She loved her grandkids and great grandchildren and knowing what they were doing.
