Patricia L. Alt

Patricia L. Alt, 89, of Fishers, formerly of Lowell, IN, passed away May 4, 2017. She was born on February 1, 1928 to the late Earl Laughlin and Pauline Leis Laughlin in Ft. Wayne, IN. Patricia attended Central Catholic High School in Ft. Wayne, received a Bachelor of Education degree from Ball State and a Master’s of Science in Education from Purdue. She was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years at St. Mary’s in Muncie, IN and Lake Prairie in Lowell, IN. She was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church in Lowell, IN and the Indiana State Teachers Association. Patricia was a talented pianist and had an eclectic taste in music which she shared with her children. She spent time traveling the country with family and friends. She was also an avid reader, loved the theater and enjoyed playing bridge, pinochle and golf. Along with her husband John, she loved entertaining in her home or socializing with their many friends out on the town. Visitation will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 518 E. DeWald Street, Ft. Wayne, IN 46803. A funeral mass will follow visitation at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place at the Catholic Cemetery following the Mass . Patricia is survived by her sons; John (Patricia), Bruce (Christine) and Barry (Jacque); a daughter, Abby Alt Publow; grandchildren, Heidi Daniel (Stephen), Jennifer Fehrenbacher (Ryan), Jeremy Alt (Risa), Jacob Alt, Matthew Alt (Elizabeth), Magdeline Alt, Anna Alt, Elliot Alt; step-grandchildren, Curt Publow (Judy), Jason Publow, and Eric Publow (Kristen); sisters, Mary Ann Schnelker (Phillip), Sally Lill; a brother, Michael Laughlin (Monica); a sister-in-law, Cecilia Miller and 21 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Francis Alt. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 518 E. DeWald St., Ft. Wayne, IN 46803, or the Alzheimer’s Association. Final care and arrangements are entrusted to Shirley Brothers Fishers Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd., Fishers, IN 46038.
