Myrna Lou Watts

Myrna Lou Watts, of Indianapolis passed away unexpectedly on January 11, 2024. She was born on October 13th, 1942, in Noblesville, Indiana to the late Leroy Allen Mann and Mary Jane (Dale) Mann. Myrna was a 1960 graduate of Jackson Central High School in Arcadia, Indiana. She was employed with Hamilton County for 37 years where she worked in the Clerks, Assessor, and Prosecutor’s offices. In October 1991, Myrna married Wilbur “Butch” Watts. Myrna loved family gatherings where her grandchildren will remember her as the queen of the Hokey-Pokey and bingo with prizes. She and Butch enjoyed traveling with friends to various casinos. She was a charter member of Weightless Wonder Group and a Jazzercise fanatic! Myrna was a lifelong member of the United Methodist church. She modeled her faith through her kindness, compassion, and love. For most of her church-life, she attended Cicero United Methodist Church, where she was the church organist for 13 years. In retirement, she and her husband moved to Spanish Trails, in St. Augustine, Florida where they made a great number of dear friends and cherished memories. While in Florida, they were members of First United Methodist Church, until returning home to Indiana. If family and friends were given only one word in which to describe Myrna, it might be funny, prankster, or just plain ornery. She loved to laugh, tell jokes, and just be silly. In the last few years of her life, she enjoyed watching and feeding the birds from her living room window. In addition to becoming an amateur birder, she became friends with about half a dozen squirrels. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 16th, 2024, from 12 noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 East Washington Street. Myrna is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Wilbur “Butch” Watts; brother Robert “Bob” (Karen) Mann; son David (Julie) Endicott, daughter, Diane (Kim) Clark-Endicott; stepson, Steven (Janet) Watts; grandchildren; Aaron (Cara), Alexandra, Amanda (Breck), Evan (Olivia), Jordan, Morgan (Jon), Steven, and Tanner (Kalie); great-grandchildren, Jack, and Josephine; Nieces, nephews, and great number of friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Molly (Larry) Rothrock and niece Elizabeth Rothrock. The family would like to acknowledge and express their deepest gratitude to current and past staff members where they lived: Nakita, India, Florence, Socks, nursing and therapy staff, and providers for their care, love, patience, compassion, and most of the laughs. To honor Myrna’s love for her country, nature, and all things colorful, the family invites you to wear any colors of the rainbow, something patriotic, or nature. Squirrel attire encouraged.
