Michael L. Muncy

Michael L. Muncy, 54, of Indianapolis, passed away March 25, 2016. He was born October 8, 1961 in Harlan, KY, to Terry and Anna Ball Muncy. Mike was a graduate of Warren Central High School. He married Terry Arthur March 24, 1984, spring boarding three decades of love, laughter, and family. Mike was employed at the Indianapolis Star as the General Foreman of the Electric Shop, and a proud member of IBEW Local #481. Mike loved photography, which he helped teach to a niece. He loved music, which he taught to his sons and played with many different family members. He traveled, often with his wife. He also enjoyed independent filmmaking, a hobby acquired from his father and a nephew. Above all else, he was an excellent human being. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St. with funeral services Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Terry Muncy, with whom he loved to travel with. Be it the beaches of Daytona, the mountain cabins of Gatlinburg, or the scenery of Paris, they went always together. His eldest son, Justin, followed the family trade to become an electrician. Justin was often sought by Mike for roles in his independent films. Mike also opened his heart and home to Justin's fiancée, Marcy, and treated her like his own daughter. Michael's second son, Jacob learned much about life from him. He often imitated what Mike was doing, whether it was shaving his face, or washing his bike while Mike was washing the cars. Mike also taught Jacob how to love life, be a kind person, and more than anything how to be a wonderful husband for Jacob’s wife, Molly Muncy. Mike's parents, Terry and Anna Muncy, were never far from Mike's thoughts, and they were always a cornerstone of his life and his view of family. His brother, Terence Muncy (Barbara); mother-in-law, Katie Forsythe (companion, Mark); father-in-law, Jack Arthur (Sandy); brothers-in-law, Tim, Doug (Nancy) and Gregg (Amy) Arthur; sisters-in-law, Whitey Stout (Jack), Kelly Bragg (Sean), Kristie Leger (Red) and Kathy Maston (Chris); and several nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends. Mike’s grandparents, Stanley and Mary Muncy; and aunts, Cleta Johnson and Fannie Partin, preceded him in death.
