Mary Terese Stephens Price

54, of Carmel, IN, passed away September 19, 2011 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born Easter Sunday, April 21, 1957 in Indianapolis, IN, to William and Janet Stephens. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Jeffrey Price; two sons, Neil Wright (wife Wendy) and Perry Wright (wife Emily); sister, Jeanne Rayman; father, William Stephens; grandchildren, Jude and Carly Wright, and Johnathan, Jarod and Ariel Jordan. She is preceded in death by her mother, Janet Stephens; and a sister, Elaine Molburg. Mary graduated from Carmel High School in 1975, and later attended IUPUI. She spent nearly 20 years in commercial lines rating for the insurance industry. Mary was funny, intelligent, loving, and she possessed a magnetic personality. She had an exuberant love of music, especially for The Beatles and Neil Diamond, film scores, and classical music. Mary once wrote �The magic of music is deeply embedded into my life� and her life�s soundtrack continued to grow as the years went by. She had the brightest smile, and a genuine joyful laugh that never failed to make others laugh along with her. She was the funniest person her family ever knew, and one of the smartest. She said that she could never remember her keys, but she never lost a game of Jeopardy. Only a hip replacement surgery in 2004 prevented her from becoming a contestant on the show after a tryout. Mary and her husband met on a blind date. She said �What I wanted was a man who going to love my children, I wanted a man that was going to love me and my kids. And I got it.� She also said that she was lucky enough to be 54 and still have her dad. Her interests spanned the gamut. She loved reading and the movies. She was especially fond of classics with Jimmy Stewart, never missed a Star Trek film, and screamed when the shark from �Jaws� made its appearance. She made jewelry and was a wonderful seamstress. She made her own wedding dress, and her younger sister�s. Mary wanted people to know that she had a wonderful life. That she was a fun girl, and she had fun. She had a good marriage, a good husband, and good kids. She never had a passport, but that was okay. She got to go to Disney World with her husband and kids and spent the night in a motel called the Undailla Inn. She loved being a member of Toastmasters. Although she was never a morning person, she rarely missed Toastmaster meetings with her friends. She wrote and gave wonderful speeches about her life which never failed to move her friends. Mary touched everyone she met. She gifted her family a legacy of love and laughter. Mary was a rare soul who made the world a better, funnier, and more insane place. We are all better people to have known her. She will be missed, and there will be spaces in our hearts that only Mary could fill. Visitation will be held Friday, September 23, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Carmel Christian Church, 463 East Main St., Carmel, IN, 46032.
