Martha Ann Quinn Kauffman Tait

Martha Ann Quinn Kauffman Tait, 87, of Indianapolis, died on October 26, 2015, at her Westminster Village North home. She was born in Orleans, IN, on December 15, 1927, and spent her childhood in Jasper and Elnora, before moving to Indianapolis as a teen, attending Tech High School. Martha was a kind and loving person, whose love truly knew no bounds. She easily conversed with virtually anyone, and she saw all persons as God’s children. As a reflection of God’s love within her, she served as caregiver for a number of family members in their final illness. She was an outgoing friendly person, whose kindness was shown daily in her intense listening to others. In fact, as those who knew her well would attest, she listened so intently to others that they would tell Martha all of their joys and sorrows, and sometimes their entire life story! She established and directed the cosmetics and gift department at Brock’s Drugstore in Indianapolis. She then worked with her dear friend Josephine Lester as an Oscar de La Renta fragrance representative. For more than forty years, she was a faithful and generous member of Lawrence United Methodist Church, and she participated in the Nealites Senior Adult Group, as well as the Westminster Village North Red Hats. Martha’s son, Robert “Bob” Quinn preceded her in death in May of 2014, as well as her husband of twenty five years, Harry Kauffman who died in 1994; and John Tait whose death in 2012 followed a delightful seventeen year marriage. Her brother, Robert “Bob” Ochs also preceded her in death. Martha is survived by a son, Mark (Barb) Quinn of Indianapolis; and seven grandchildren, Kevin, Kelly, Qiana, Bryan, Jason, Kyle, Jordan; and eight great-grandchildren. We extend our profound appreciation to Dr. Stephen R. Beck of Indianapolis, for his expert medical care, and for his warm friendship with Martha over many years. The family invites those who knew Martha to attend a visitation on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Lawrence United Methodist Church, 5200 N. Shadeland Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46226. A Celebration of Life Service will occur at 2:00 p.m. that same day. Memorial contributions may be made to Lawrence United Methodist Church and/or Hessong Scholarship Fund, c/o Lawrence UMC. Final care and arrangements are entrusted to Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel.
