Marsha Jean (Reynolds) Richards

Marsha Jean (Reynolds) Richards, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away February 11, 2023. Marsha passed away peacefully in her home in the arms of her husband, Robert Richards, surrounded by dear friends and her blessed dog, Puppy and Cat, Apollo. Marsha was born September 13, 1942 in Elkhart, Indiana to the late Raymond H. and Marjorie L. (Kammerling) Reynolds. Marsha was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, class of 1960. After high school, she attended Indiana University. Marsha was very involved in clubs and activities in high school. Marsha was vice president of her class, a member of the choir including an all-female ensemble that sang around Indianapolis popular venues and even homecoming queen. It was at Arsenal Tech that Marsha met the love of her life, Robert E. Richards. Robert and Marsha were married on January 20, 1962. Robert and Marsha never had any children of their own. However, they had a huge love for animals and had several four-legged fur babies. Marsha loved all animals and was a huge contributor to the local Indianapolis Humane Society throughout her life. Marsha would always say, “there’s no such thing as bad animals, only bad people.” Every night before bed Marsha would say a prayer for all the animals that were outside and in need of a home. Marsha worked as an executive secretary her entire adult life. Most notably, she was an executive secretary for the Capital Improvement Board and Indiana Convention Center for over 26 years. Marsha made several lifelong friends while working for the Convention Center. Her friends often described her as the grandmother from tweedy bird, as Marsha would have her hair up in a bun, wore glasses, and always wore a blouse with a skirt to work. Her close friends described her as a hard worker who always had a smile and a true blessing to all of those around her. Marsha is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Robert E. Richards. Her sister, Marylin (Kent Babcock) Reynolds; her nephews, Seth D. (Roberta) Rubin and Jeremiah S. Burns; her great-nephews, August Haywood and Waverly John Francis; beloved cousins; and several cherished close friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 14, 2023 from 12 noon until 12:30 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel, 5377 East Washington Street. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Humane Society of Indianapolis, 7929 North Michigan Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268.
