Marilyn Sue Morgan

Marilyn Sue Morgan, 83, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 11, 1942, in Indianapolis to the late Charles William and Mary Alma (Dant) Clements. Marilyn was a proud graduate of St. Agnes High School. Marilyn married the love of her life, Jerry D. Morgan, on August 26, 1961, and he preceded her in death on March 16, 2020, after 58 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they created a life full of love, laughter, and memories – including many days spent boating on the White River. Marilyn dedicated 26 years to Warren Township School Corporation, where she worked as both a bus driver and in the transportation office, retiring in 2008. She formed lifelong friendships along the way, including her cherished “Hardee Girls,” a group that began meeting at Hardee’s between bus routes and remained close ever since. She also enjoyed her card club, where laughter and friendship were always guaranteed. A devoted member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Marilyn’s faith was a guiding force in her life. Marilyn was known for her incredible ability to fix just about anything, her strength, and her selflessness. She lovingly cared for her husband, Jerry (“Papaw”), without hesitation, showing unwavering dedication and love. She also had a fun, adventurous side – whether it was hosting unforgettable family gatherings and pool parties or even water skiing without getting her hair wet (a skill she was quite proud of!). Above all, Marilyn’s greatest joy was her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly her world, and she poured her heart into each and every one of them. Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Kristen K. Smythe (Vance) and Karen S. Morgan; grandchildren, Samantha M. Smythe, Holly A. Smythe (Alex McAvoy), Jessica M. LeGrand (Blair), and Gavin D. Smythe (Sammy2); and great-grandchildren, Millie Ann McAvoy, Lochleigh Hamble, Mason McAvoy, Kendra Smythe, and Rockford LeGrand. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rita Lugar. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 7, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 East Washington Street. Memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
