Louise Antoinette McSweeney

Louise Antoinette McSweeney (née Wojciechowicz) Passed away peacefully at the age of 87. Born on September 26, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, Louise was the beloved daughter of Louis and Mary Wojciechowicz. She was raised on Chicago’s South Side and cherished her role as the oldest of four children, lovingly guiding her younger brothers, Len, Tony and John throughout their lives. Louise graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1960 with a degree in education. During her time at NIU, she was an active member of Pi Kappa Sigma Sorority, which later became part of Sigma Kappa. It was there, through fraternity and sorority activities, that she met the love of her life, Michael “Mike” McSweeney. The two were married in August 1960 and shared 55 years of marriage until Mike’s passing in 2015. Following graduation, Louise taught elementary school for several years. After the birth of her second child, she made the decision to devote herself full-time to raising her family while supporting Mike throughout his corporate career. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, friendship, and adventure. Louise was known for her remarkable organization, attention to detail, and ability to create a warm and welcoming home wherever life took the family. Having moved 27 times during her adult life, she perfected the art of turning every house into a home. Family and friends could always count on finding an immaculate house, a well-planned gathering, and a gracious hostess. Louise found great joy in music, travel, games, and entertaining. Above all, Louise treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and happiness. Her vibrant personality and gift for bringing people together remained evident throughout her life. Even during her final years in memory care, she was affectionately known as “the life of the party.” Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary Wojciechowicz; her husband, Michael McSweeney; her brothers, Len Wojciechowicz and John Wojciechowicz; her sister-in-law, Sister Jean McSweeney, O.P.; and great-grandson, Carter. She is survived by her brother, Tony Wojciechowicz (Linda) of Seattle, Washington; her sons, David McSweeney (Laura) of Naperville, Illinois and Mark McSweeney (Cheryl) of Fishers, Indiana; and her six beloved grandchildren, Michael (Qi), Tyler (Kellen), Kristin (Brendan), Erin, Brian and Kerrigan; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, nurses, and staff of Hamilton Trace for the compassion, dignity, and kindness they showed Louise during her final two years. Their dedicated care, friendship, and support brought comfort not only to Louise but also to her family, who will always be grateful for the love and respect with which she was treated. Louise’s legacy lives on through the family she loved so deeply, the friendships she nurtured so faithfully, and the countless lives she touched with her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Holy Spirit Parish at Geist, 10350 Glaser Way, Fishers, IN 46037. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 29, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Road, Huntley, IL, 60142, with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment will immediately follow at 11:15 a.m. at St. Mary Cemetery, Huntley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Louise’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
