Lois E. Graham

Lois was born on April 16, 1917, to Clarence and Clara Pelter in Saginaw, MI. The family, which included one older brother, Gordon, moved to Toledo, OH, when she was five years old. Mr. Pelter was engaged in the funeral business.Lois attended school in Toledo, and graduated in 1936, from DeVilbiss High School. She became a Christian in 1934, and the rest of her life was dedicated to living a Christian life. After graduation she was employed by the Ohio Bell Telephone Co. and worked there until 1941. In August of 1939, she met Glenn Graham, and was married to him on June 14, 1940. The marriage produced two wonderful daughters, Joan Adele and Peggy Loree. They, in turn have added five grandchildren and they have added seven great-grandchildren.World War II interrupted the marriage and Glenn served in the Navy, stationed at Pearl Harbor. He returned safely and life was resumed. Glenn decided to go into the funeral business at this time and after graduating and serving his apprenticeship under Lois' father, pursued the funeral business for many years, owning and operating their own funeral homes. Lois was involved in this business and helped in many ways.In 1968, Glenn was employed by American Art Clay Company, Indianapolis, and again Lois worked along with him as part time bookkeeper and Craft Demonstrator. They traveled all over the world and the U.S. demonstrating the products of American Art Clay and Lois led the craft workshops and demonstrated the products in the booths. This was a very enjoyable times as they could travel and and share in all things. Their lives were always very close.In 1981, Glenn was seriously ill and life had to slow down for them. This was accepted and they made the best of it, still traveling to some extent.Glenn then accepted a position as Executive Vice President of the National Plastercraft Association and Lois was given the position of Executive Secretary. This was also enjoyable as there was som traveling and the making of new friends.In 1984, Glenn's health forced complete retirement and they dedicated their lives to the church, their families and to each other.At the death of Glenn on Christmas day, 1991, the life of Lois was completely changed. With the help of the Lord and her failth plus the devotion of her family, she was able to accept her grief and continue on with her life.A slight stroke occured to Lois in December 1994, after which, according to the doctor's advice, she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law, Charles and Peggy McConnell.Since she had been attending the Seventh Day Adventist Church since the death of her husband, her membership was transferred to Glendale Church May 20, 1995, where she thoroughly enjoyed worshiping.
