Joanne T. Beltrame

Joanne T. Beltrame,55, of Chicago, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away September 4, 2011. She was born August 31, 1956 to the late Bruno and Louise (Boland) Beltrame. Joanne was a graduate of Little Flower Catholic School and Scecina Memorial High School. She received her Bachelor�s Degree in Criminal Justice from Ball State University, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Joanne began her career in law enforcement as a Probation Officer for Marion County, and then as a Diversion Investigator for the DEA in Indianapolis. In 1987, Joanne became a Special Agent for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Inspector General - Criminal Investigations Division, recently retiring after 25 years of service. Prior to retirement, Agent Beltrame also served as an instructor at FLETC (Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) in Glynco, GA. Joanne was active with FOP Lodge #9 �Untouchables�, Chicago, IL. On her retirement, August 31, 2011 Joanne was presented with the first ever �Joanne Beltrame Award� to recognize Office of Inspector General employees who exemplify those traits of courage, perseverance, and commitment to public service. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and co-worker, who will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity and strength. Visitation will be Friday, September 9, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel, 5377 E. Washington St. Remembrances of Joanne will be shared at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 12 noon at Little Flower Catholic Church, 4720 E. 13th St., with visitation there from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Joanne is survived by her siblings, Annette (Ernie) Stigall, Elizabeth (John) Ullrich, Marie (Ernie Montgomery) Beltrame, Mike (Peggy) Beltrame and Robert (Kathy) Beltrame; longtime companion, Hank; faithful dogs, Charlie and Rudy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or Famous Fido Rescue, c/o Happy Tails, 5430 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL, 60640 and/or Little Flower Catholic Church.
