Jane Ann Myer Halpern

65, of Indianapolis, passed away August 11, 2010, following her courageous battle with cancer. She was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. Jane was born on August 29, 1944, in Shelbyville, IN, to Robert Lowell and Marguerite Unger Myer. As a child growing up in Morristown, IN, she enjoyed visiting her grandmother�s garden with her sister Judy (Myer) Branson and helping her dad on the family farm. She was a Girl Scout and a cheerleader. Jane was a graduate of Morristown High School and Indiana University. She met and married Wayne Halpern, her loving husband of 43 years, while working as a Management Analyst for the Department of the Army at the Fort Benjamin Harrison Finance Center. She gladly �retired� from work and devoted her life to making a home for her husband and children. Jane treasured time spent with her family and friends. She cherished her family�s annual trips to Disney World and being Nana to her precious granddaughter, Olivia Jane. She was a Master Gardener and often hosted tea parties in her beautifully crafted flower garden. She was a volunteer at the greenhouse located on the grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art. She was an avid genealogist and enjoyed sewing and crafts. Most of all, Jane loved the Lord. She was a member of Castleview Baptist Church and her faith in God guided her throughout her life and her 12 year battle with cancer. Jane was an incredible example of courage, perserverance, faith, and love. Jane is survived by her husband Wayne; children, Andrea, Melissa and Joshua (Kristin); stepson, Wayne, Jr.; granddaughter, Olivia; sister, Judy (Tom) Branson; nieces and nephews, cousins, and many special friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lowell and Marguerite Unger Myer. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd. A celebration of Jane�s life will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Castleview Baptist Church, 8601 Hague Rd., with Pastor Dave Lohse and Dr. William Chapman officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 9700 Allisonville Rd. The Halpern family wish to express their sincere gratitude for the kind and compassionate care given to Jane by the physicians, nurses, and medical staff at Clarian Health Partnership during her treatment.
