Henry Jefferson "Jack" Chiles

Henry Jefferson �Jack� Chiles, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully in his home October 28, 2011. Born on August 17, 1935 in Catron, Missouri to Thomas Allison Chiles and Mary Elizabeth Harris Chiles, Jack enlisted in the United States Navy in May, 1958. His four year tour of service to his country brought him great pride throughout his life. While serving, he met and married Sylvia Jane Upshaw. They had one son, Gregory Alan. Jack enjoyed being active with Boy Scouts, coaching Little League Baseball, and was an advisor for Beech Grove Chapter of DeMolay. He was presented an Honorary Legion of Honor by DeMolay International. He also received the Grand Cross of Colors from Rainbow for Girls in Indiana. Raised a Master Mason in Beech Grove Lodge #694, he had the pleasure of serving as Master in 1978. Initiated into Queen Esther Chapter #3, Order of the Eastern Star, in 1967 Jack served as Worthy Patron twelve times, including terms at Millersville Chapter #300 and Cicero Chapter #541, where he held dual memberships. Jack had many interests, chief among them were his love of travel, in particular his family vacations, as well as his love for cars, which fueled his passion for being a backyard mechanic. He retired from Chrysler Corporation after twenty-eight years of service. Jack was currently employed at Wal-Mart as a door greeter. His was blessed to find love again when he married Lisa �Missi� Reissner in 2000. Together, Jack and Missi enjoyed their continued affiliation and service to Eastern Star and their travels throughout the state. Jack and Missi were active members of The Players. His only grandchild, Allison Nicole, was a source of great joy and entertainment. One of their many escapades included an adventurous ride on a golf cart. They enjoyed their pets, watching classic movies, and many sleepovers at �Papaw�s� house. He is now joyfully reunited in God�s presence with loved ones, his parents, his first wife Sylvia, and sister, Lorene. Survivors include wife, Lisa �Missi�; son, Greg (Dawn); granddaughter, Allison; sisters, Geneva (Ed) Garrett, Frances Holland, Shirley (Herschel) Butler, Mary (Steve) Acree; brother, Tom (Judy) Chiles. Friends may call Tuesday, November 1, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd. Funeral services will be held at the mortuary at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday with Rev. Deb Strock-Kuss of the Allisonville Christian Church, where Jack was a member, officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Fishers.
