Harry Alois Young

Harry Alois Young went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 24, 2010. He was born in Toledo, OH, September 25, 1929 the second son of Harry and Isabel (Reigelsperger) Young. His parents, older brother, Ray, and younger brother, Dennis, preceded him in death. Harry served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. While on active duty in Hawaii in 1953, he came to faith in Jesus Christ, his Savior, and after being discharged, went to Taylor University to prepare for Christian service. Harry received two undergraduate degrees. At TU, he met Ruth Ralston, Clinton, IN, whom he married on June 7, 1959. Harry taught in public schools in Rocky Ridge and Elmore, Ohio for eight years. In 1968, he joined the Christian school movement at Southside Christian, and later at Heritage Christian Schools, both in Indianapolis. Harry became well-known as a �fix-it� man. Through his business, Young�s Refrigeration and Appliance Repair, he fulfilled his love of helping people. As a deacon at Burge Terrace Baptist Church and more recently, an elder at New Palestine Bible Church, Harry served the God he loved. His strong belief in God�s Word, the Bible, was known to all who knew him. His family and friends will miss him greatly. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington Street, and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. at Burge Terrace Baptist Church, 9345 Brookville Rd., Indianapolis, IN. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ruth E. Young; children, Matthew C. Young (Cathy) of Simpsonville, SC, Sara Ruth Fugate (Mark), of Neillsville, WI, Jonathan E. Young (Janelle), of Indianapolis, IN, and Naomi Ruth Clay, Greenville, SC; nine grandchildren, Ben, Rachel, and Aaron Fugate; Lauren and Lance Young; and Rebecca, Timothy, Darius, and Shakira; his only sister, Arlene Young McCurdy, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, and �baby� brother, Thomas O. Young, of Bowling Green, Ohio. The family would like to thank Dr. Mary Lou Mayer, the staff on the 4th Floor, St. Francis Beech Grove Hospital, and St. Francis Hospice for their kind and excellent care of our dear one these past two and one-half years.
