Frank A. Klinkose Jr.

Frank A. Klinkose, Jr., 86, of Indianapolis, passed away February 20, 2017. He was born December 19, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Frank A. and Louise C. Geiger Klinkose. The family moved to Indianapolis where Frank graduated from Cathedral High School, Class of 1948. He received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Public Administration from Indiana University. He served his country during the Korean War in the U. S. Air Force. Frank married Cecelia Ann Gaspar on August 13, 1960 and they had four children, Anne, Fritz, Philip and Laura. Cecelia preceded him in death, January 21, 1989. On April 29, 1993 he married Kathleen A. Mendenhall and she survives. Frank was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank in Chicago, and then for the Indiana Department of Revenue as Administrator of Income Tax for 23 years, retiring in 1983. He then worked for the next 17 years at the firm of Price Waterhouse Coopers in Chicago and Indianapolis, retiring in 2000. Frank was a devoted member of Little Flower Catholic Church and took pride in serving as a collection counter for the past 15 years. He was also active in the Service Corporation of Retired Executives (SCORE), the Downtown Optimist Club, Hillcrest Country Club and Maple Creek Golf and Country Club. Frank will always be remembered for his quick wit, and passions for trains, travel and reading. He always enjoyed a cigar, martini and “real beer” with his many friends. Visitation will be Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of his Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, 4720 E. 13th St., with Father Bob Gilday officiating. Frank is also survived by his children, Anne Whitson (Brian), Fritz Klinkose, Philip Klinkose, and Laura Klinkose (Daniel Peterkin); grandchildren, Morgan Klinkose (Zeb Peters), Gavin and Madison Klinkose; brother, David Klinkose (Mary Sue); cousins, Marilyn Pellman (William), Suzanne Kammerer (Leo), William Matthews (Mary); nephew, John Klinkose (Jennifer Hawk); nieces, Aimee Taylor (Matthew) and Mary Klinkose (Vincent Laplante); great-niece, Lexi Tolbert (Todd); great-nephews, Jack Taylor, Nicolas and Christopher Laplante. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Luke Whitson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Little Flower Catholic Church and/or Scecina Memorial High School, 5000 Nowland Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46201.
