Espie "Rena" (Jones) McKinney

Espie “Rena” (Jones) McKinney, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully October 31, 2020, at a local hospital from cardiac arrest. She was born September 1, 1936, in Salvisa, Kentucky, to the late James Leslie and Espie Rena (Hockersmith) Jones. She married Clinton Donald “Don” McKinney on June 5, 1959, and they enjoyed 61 long full years of marriage. Rena was a food specialist for Lawrence Township School Corporation for 25+ years and loved the opportunity to work each day with countless children and give each one a personal smile! There was nothing more enjoyable & loved by her than the Lord and His Word, family, friends, singing the old hymns, and good food & fellowship. She was a beloved and treasured wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by all. Rena is survived by her husband, Don McKinney; daughters, Carla (Robert) Irey, Deborah (McKinney) Russell, Sue (McKinney) Wilson, Tammy (McKinney) Mihalic and Laura Hope (Adam) Huff; grandchildren, Heather (Thomas) Surface, Carol (Jason) Hall, Suprena L. (Anthony A.) Tarver, Chloe Elma (Nathan) Frost, Joseph (Charlonda) Bledsoe, Tanya (Edward Taylor) Bledsoe, Lunden (Levi Stocke) Mihalic, Landis (Jamie) Mihalic, Lanchen Mihalic, Hӓnnah Elizabeth Huff and Elisha Samuel Huff; and great-grandchildren, Devin (Turner) Bledsoe, Olivie (Turner) Bledsoe, Noah (Turner) Bledsoe, Charles (McDaniel) Hall, Adam (McDaniel) Hall, Abigail (McDaniel) Hall, Kingston Hall, Callie (Bledsoe) Taylor, Caylin Taylor, Eden Taylor, Egypt Taylor, Gavin Mihalic, Maddox Mihalic, Emmy Mihalic, George Frost, Thea Frost, Solana Y. Tarver and Harlee Lunden Stocke. Rena was preceded in death by her brother, James Eunice Jones; sisters, Euthany Mae Jones, Elevie Bea Jones, Annie Otis (Jones) (Lewis) Smith, Dorothy K. (Jones) (Bo) Boggs and Eula Jane (Jones) (John) Geary; and grandchildren, David Michael Huff and Meghan Grace Huff. She truly lived a blessed, full and prosperous Life! “Children are truly a blessing and a great gift from the Lord.” – Psalm 127:3. A private family viewing will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Road, Fishers. Graveside services will be held for the family and the public at 2:00 p.m. at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, Section, Sermon on the Mount, Lot 46C , space 3 & 4. A Celebration of life service for all will follow immediately afterward from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at one of Rena’s favorite places, MCL Cafeteria Restaurant & Bakery, 5520 Castleton Corner Lane, Indianapolis, IN 46250. Please feel free to bring Bible verses, Praise & Worship songs, pictures, videos, and special treasured moments of you and her together that you can share. There is a lifetime of love, tears, and laughter to be embraced by all and we are all looking forward to our joyous time together, celebrating this Beautiful, One-Of-A-Kind Priceless Princess of God! She truly is an Irreplaceable Treasure that will be Held Forever in Our Hearts!!! Gone, but never forgotten, and forever in the arms of Jesus.
