Edward Lee Kennedy

85, of Michiana (New Buffalo, Michigan), passed into eternal life on July 22, 2011. Lee was born March 10, 1926, in Dowagiac, Michigan, to Harry Martin Kennedy and Frances Flower Kennedy. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and Episcopalian; a sailor; master woodworker; and Purdue's all-time biggest fan; Lee lived in the Indianapolis, IN area until he moved with his wife to their lake cottage in Michiana. Lee served in the US Navy during WWII, and graduated from Purdue University with a degree in engineering. At Purdue, Lee met the �cutest girl he ever saw�, Bette Jurincic, and they shared love and life for 61 years. Lee worked for 38 years at the Bryant-Hedback Company in Indianapolis, and retired in 1991 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. During his career, he served as chairman of ASHRAE, president of Sales and Marketing Executives, and served on the Heating & Cooling Board of the City of Indianapolis. In Indianapolis, Lee was active in the community, serving on Boards of Nora Little League, Boy Scouts, and the Jordan YMCA. He served many years on the Vestry at St. Paul's Episcopal Church-- twice as Senior Warden. Since moving to Michigan, Lee has been a dedicated member of Church of the Mediator in Harbert, serving on the Vestry, Building Committee, and Mighty Men of the Mediator. Lee truly loved life, and especially cherished his family. He leaves his family and friends a legacy of love, service and generosity � and many beautiful creations from his wood shop. He made the most delicious blueberry pancakes his grandkids ever ate. Lee was predeceased by his parents and older brother, Harry. He is survived by his wife, Bette, and five children; Karen Query, Tom (Charlene DuLong) Kennedy, Tammy (Duke) Hardy, John (Sally) Kennedy, and Joan (Pete) Miller; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren (and one on the way). A memorial service will be held in Indianapolis on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 2:00 p.m. with calling from 12:00 until the time of service.
