Dora Sadler Moore Duggins

Dora Sadler Moore Duggins, 102, was born in Gallatin, TN on December 12, 1904, and died April 25, 2007 in Indianapolis. One of 11 children of Miranda Emmaline and Christopher Columbus Sadler, she graduated from Portland (TN) High School and Indiana Beauty College. She and her younger sister Martha Sadler Morrison were beauticians in Indianapolis; first having a salon on East New York Street, and then in the Brookside Park area. After retiring as a beautician Dora worked at H.P. Wasson and L. S. Ayres. Dora always lived a healthy lifestyle, and enjoyed walking, being with friends and traveling. She lived during two centuries and witnessed some pretty amazing things. Even during hard times, she remained upbeat with a beautiful smile; and only grew more beautiful as she entered extreme old age. Dora was one of the ladies featured in last November�s issue of �Indianapolis Woman,� quite an achievement for someone who was 101 years old at the time. She was never quite ready to �pass on� but wanted to wait and see �how it all came out.� She was extremely proud of her family and remained independent all her life. We will miss her. Dora was a member of Wallace Street Presbyterian Church for over 60 years and was preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse Moore in 1956; second husband, Bill Duggins in 1997; son, Jimmie R. Moore in 2005; her brothers, George Washington Sadler, Robert Sadler and Jay Sadler; and sisters, Susie Sadler, Lula Ratcliffe, Ruth Mayo, Nora Summerville (Dora�s twin), and Martha Jean Morrison; and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter Jayne Moore Lewis, Phoenix, AZ; granddaughters, Laura Lewis Jones (Bill), Paradise Valley, AZ; Nancy Lewis (Bob Hackworth), Colorado Springs; and grandson, David Lewis, Phoenix. She is also survived by great grandson, Shawn Rabourn (Leilani) and great-great-grandchildren, Shawn Jr. and Georgia Shea Rabourn, Gastonia, NC. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Devon Rabourn, Colorado Springs; Tyler Jones and Vanessa Jones, Paradise Valley, AZ. Niece, Mary Babbitt of Greenwood, IN and nephew, Lloyd Sadler, Albany, IN also survive. The family would like to thank Helen and Donna and other members of Wallace Street Church for their friendship. Gratitude and thanks to friends and staff a Justus East Assisted Living, she loved you. Special thanks also to Community Health Hospice of Indiana. Visitation will be Monday, April 30, 2007 from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. at Wallace Street Presbyterian Church, 4805 E. 10th Street, Indianapolis with burial following at Washington Park East Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 1:00 p.m. at Crestwood East Assisted Living, 1123 North Edmondson. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Dora�s name can be sent to Community VNA Home Care/Hospice of Indiana, 9894 E. 121st Street, Fishers, IN 46038. Services have been entrusted to Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel.
