David R. Richey

David Randall Richey, 61, of Bloomington, went home to be with his Lord, June 19, 2016. He was born August 26, 1954 in Bloomington, IN, the son of Alva and Mary Louise Wilkins Richey. Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Benninghoff Richey; son, Philip Richey and his wife Brandy Robertson Richey; daughters, Datha Richey Hoffmeister and her husband Jonathan Hoffmeister; Michele Richey Mitchner and her husband Brandon Mitchner, and Erin Richey all of Bloomington, IN; five grandsons, Cameron Richey, Jordan Richey, Gage Richey, Emerson Hoffmeister and Maddox Hoffmeister; one granddaughter, Kali Ann Hoffmeister; one sister, Judith Ann Richey Baxter and her husband Rev. Irvin Baxter, Jr. of Garland, TX; two brothers, Phillip Terry Richey of Tampa, FL, and Jeffrey Richey of Bloomington, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Keith Edwin Richey. David was a 1973 graduate of Bloomington High School South. He married the love of his life Carol Ann Benninghoff, July 5, 1974, and you rarely saw one of them without the other. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and loved to watch his grandchildren play baseball. David worked as a General Manager of Wendy’s of Bloomington for 27 years, and finished his working career as Food Manager (Chick-Fil-A) for Indiana University. David was a faithful Saint of God and attended Family Life and Worship Center of Bloomington, IN. Through the years, he served the Lord in multiple ways; he ministered in music, led worship service, played the saxophone and sang from a very young age. He will be remembered most for his love of God, dedication to his family, and his sense of humor. Visitation will be held Friday, June 24, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a. m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. at Family Life Worship Center, 8449 N. Fox Hollow Rd., Bloomington. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may me made to Hospice of Bloomington, 619 West 1st Street, Bloomington, IN 47402. Final care and arrangements are entrusted to Shirley Brothers Mortuaries, Thompson Road Chapel.
