David O. Nelson

David O. Nelson, 65, of Greenfield, passed away October 26, 2021. He was born July 9, 1956 in Greenfield, Indiana to Horace O. Nelson and Mary Davis Nelson. David was a graduate of Lawrence North High School, Class of 1974. He graduated from Ivy Tech with an Associates Degree and worked for Reeder, Inc. in the heating and cooling industry for over 20 years. He married Delores J. Guffey August 30, 1986. David was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Greenfield and a former member of Calvary Tabernacle in Indianapolis. David always had a smile on his face, a joke or prank to pull on someone. One of his greatest joys was when his children were born. He loved watching them grow, spent every moment playing with them, being a soccer dad, and was very proud of them. When his grandchildren were born, they stole his heart, were the light of his life, and he was proud to be called PaPaw. Time spent at PaPaw’s house was very special for his grandbabies because they knew PaPaw would let them have and do whatever they wanted. He was a God-fearing man and loved the Lord with all of his heart and soul and praised him daily. He loved to be with his brothers and sisters in Christ and loved his church very much. Visitation will be Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 1202 East 5th Street, Greenfield, Indiana. Graveside services will be Monday, November 1, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Park Cemetery in Greenfield. David is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Delores J. Nelson; daughter, Erica C. Roland (Paul); son, Joshua D. Nelson (Morgan); grandchildren, Hailie J. Roland, Serenity M. Roland, Christopher D. Roland, Alice M. Roland, Jay J. Spiegel and Ella R. Spiegel; mother, Mary Duchemin; brother, Jerry Nelson; sister, Nancy Woods; and nieces, Brandy Fox (Joe) and Sabrina Nikoloff. He was preceded in death by his father, Horace O. Nelson and sister, Mary Ann Nelson. Memorial contributions in David’s memory are suggested to the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 1202 East 5th Street, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. Final care and arrangements are entrusted to Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel.
