Barbara May Wendling

Barbara May Wendling, Formerly of Fishers, passed peacefully at the age of 84 on November 9, 2020 in Sunrise, Florida surrounded by her family. A private celebration of her life will be held at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Road, Fishers, IN, on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The service will be conducted by Father Bruce Gray of Holy Family Episcopal Church of which she was a member. Barbara was also a longtime parishioner of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Indianapolis. Barbara was born on May 11, 1936 to Virginia May and Louis James Browder in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1956. She was married to the love of her life, Fred Elbert Wendling on June 17, 1956. Barb and Fred spent the next 52 years celebrating their love with friends, children, and grandchildren. For 20 years, she worked as a lab technician at Boehringer Mannheim (Roche Diagnostics). Barbara devoted many years doing charitable work through her sorority, Delta Xi, the Indianapolis Chapter of the Delta Chi Sigma Sorority, whose charitable mission benefits children with Juvenile Arthritis. Barbara was an avid reader and member of several bridge and euchre clubs. Her loving husband and she enjoyed traveling with each other and with dear friends. Barbara’s ultimate mission in life was caring for and nurturing her beloved family: her late husband, Fred; her daughter and son-in-law, Julia Lee and John (Jack) William Schultz; her son, Jeffrey Louis Wendling; her adored grandchildren, Melissa (Millie) Claire Schultz, Molly Elizabeth Wendling, Emily Virginia Schultz and Max Louis Wendling; her dear brother and sister-in-law, Frederic Lee and Charlene Browder; her niece, Lisa Ann Browder; and cousins, Jan Ellen, Bob, Brittany (Erik) Weiss and Blake Delph. We trust in the Lord that she is now surrounded in love with her precious mother and father, Uncle Robert (Bob) and Aunt Marilyn; cousin, Christopher; and her special “Grams”, Lillian May. Barbara was blessed to have precious pets throughout her life and in lieu of flowers, we ask that Barbara be remembered by supporting the Humane Society or your favorite animal protective association.
