Adelbert "Bud" Hall

Bud Hall, Bud (born Adelbert) Hall passed away November 2, 2015, at the age of 82. He was born June 28, 1933, in Bay City, MI, to the late Fred and Dorothy Hall. Bud grew up in Gladwin, MI, and graduated from Gladwin High School in 1951. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business Administration from Michigan State University in 1955, and was proud to rib those graduating from other Big Ten schools about its superiority. Bud joined General Telephone & Electric (GTE) out of college, enjoying a 40-year career there. He started in Muskegon, MI, in accounting. Soon he became an early proponent of computers and their use in large-scale data processing, such as tracking customer telephone use. Bud managed many large projects for GTE and retired in 1995 from their Westfield, IN, office. The event was marked by a “roast” of Bud with no shortage of humorous stories from co-workers and underlings alike. Bud loved sailing and the outdoors and took any opportunity to spend a day at the beach or in the sun. In Muskegon he was very active in the Power Squadron and the Y’s Men’s Club, holding board positions in both. After retiring from GTE, Bud became a lifeguard and taught swimming at the Fishers YMCA. He was also an active member and served a year as Treasurer of the Kiwanis Club of Castleton. Bud met the then Mary Cox at a young professionals event in Muskegon. On their first date, he told Mary that he was going to marry her and did 18 months later. Bud and Mary raised three children in Muskegon. Bud is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughter, Janice Hall of Brooklyn, NY; his daughter, Jennifer Villa of Phoenix, AZ; his son, Bradley Hall of Danville, IN; and three grandchildren. He loved the rambunctious and always supportive crew of his two brothers, sister and their spouses. Please join us for a celebration of Bud’s life on Friday, November 6, 2015 starting at 12 noon at Holy Family Episcopal Church, 11445 Fishers Pointe Blvd., Fishers. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. A private interment for extended family will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Final care and arrangements are entrusted to Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel.
