Peggy Marie Reeves

Peggy Marie Reeves. 93, of Carmel, IN passed away on September 24, 2023. She was born December 31, 1929 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Harold Leon and Leota (Acuff) Spriggs. Peggy graduated from Warren Central High School and received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Butler University where she belonged to Delta Gamma Sorority. She enjoyed a thirty year career as a kindergarten teacher with Carmel Clay School District. Peggy was awarded the Outstanding Elementary Education Award in 1976, the Superintendent's Award in 2012 and was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Organization for Women Educators. Peggy was a sixty-five year member of Carmel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and served in the food pantry. As a way to begin to express our love and admiration for our mother and grandmother, we share Proverbs 31: A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She is clothed with strength and dignity, she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; But a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Prov 31: 10-12, 25-30 Peggy is survived by her devoted daughters, Rebecca Weiseman and Deborah Sturdivant (Charles); grandchildren, Michael Weiseman, Scott Weiseman (Bonnie), Paul Sturdivant (Megan), Peter Sturdivant (Melissa) and Abigail Choate (Jacob); great-grandchildren, Aaden, Mason, Noah and Rex. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, H. Eugene Reeves. Graveside services will be held on September 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Oakland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
