Kay Diane Cremeans Johnston-Fitzpatrick, 77, of Fishers, passed away July 1, 2024. She was born September 25, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Elza and Ruth Jane (Bare) Cremeans. Family, faith and friends were the most important parts of Kay’s life. During her childhood, Kay and her family lived in Columbus Ohio, Indianapolis and St. Louis, MO before settling in the Indianapolis area permanently. During this time Kay developed several close friendships which she treasured her entire life. Kay graduated from Broad Ripple High School and began her first career as a homemaker and mom. She devoted herself to her family with joyful exuberance. She and her first husband (Jerry) went camping frequently with family and friends. From Cub scout and Bluebird leader, cheering at countless ball games, chauffeuring to lessons, play dates and the gang to the Rivi in the VW bus, or just hanging out, Kay loved being a mom. She and her family regularly met to play cards, watch sports, celebrate birthdays and holidays. Their friendship included a family bowling team, “The Outlaws” for a few years. When Kay’s children were young, she wanted to instill faith in them. She began visiting a small church where she heard the Gospel and became a Christian. She became a member of East 49th St Christian Church, now as East 91st St Christian Church. Faith has been an integral part of her life ever since. Kay began her second career working for over 25 successful years as a Real Estate agent and Broker, and member of MIBOR, the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors with AHM Graves and ReMax. She was known for her dedication, problem solving, kindness and tireless hard work on behalf of her clients, who often became friends. Kay was happiest when she was spending time with family and friends. She loved traveling and watching sports, especially the Colts, Pacers, and Cubs. She cheered loudly for her grandchildren’s college teams IU and Purdue, and Notre Dame, a favorite of her second husband Terry. Kay is survived by her loving children and stepchildren: Dawn Johnston and Jeffery Johnston; Jenny Perry (Rob) and Gregory Fitzpatrick; precious grandchildren, Jacob Johnston, Grace Perry, Ryan Johnston, and Margaret Perry; adoring brothers, David Cremeans (Diana), and Steve Cremeans; as well as many sister and brother in laws, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and life long friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Terry Fitzpatrick; sister, Phyllis Dolan; and brother, Pat Cremeans. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the East 91st Street Christian Church, 6049 E. 91st St., Indianapolis, IN 46250. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and the funeral service will be Friday, July 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with both at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Road, Fishers.
