Dorothy Ann "Dot" Anderson

Dorothy Ann “Dot” Anderson, 73, of New Palestine, passed away December 29, 2024. She was born May 20, 1951 in Indianapolis to the late Claude F. and Frieda M. (Mitchell) Ashcraft. Dot graduated from Warren Central High School in 1969. As a newlywed in August of 1970, she accompanied her husband to Castle AFB in Merced, California and shortly after took a job in the Medical Records Department at the county hospital there, beginning her long career in healthcare. Dot received her LPN from Ivy Tech Community College and attended IUPUI. She retired from Community Health Network in 2013 and IU Health Saxony Hospital in 2020, as a rounding Cardiology Nurse after working 40 years in healthcare. She had a special bond and trust with many doctors she rounded with over her career in Cardiology and wasn’t shy about voicing her opinion when she had something to say. Dot enjoyed meeting people, shopping, playing bingo, crafts, time with her family and traveling. She was a great mentor and social butterfly to many. She leaves many special friends in Indianapolis, New Palestine, Belle Parc RV Resort in Brooksville, Florida and the surrounding areas. Visitation will be Friday, January 10, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 East Washington Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7243 East 10th Street, with visitation there one hour prior. Interment will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery, 10612 East Washington Street followed by a Mercy Meal at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Dot is survived by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” R. Anderson, Jr.; son, Jon Anderson; daughter, Jennifer Lasley (Billy); grandchildren, Kelsea (Eli), Evan, Kaden (Makayla), and Kyla; great-granddaughter, Lennon; brother, Tom Ashcraft (Tracy); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Rosemary Warman, Patty Ashcraft, and Jeanie Maynard; and infant brother, Joseph Ashcraft. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and/or the American Heart Association.
