Brinda Kaye Smith

Brinda Kaye Smith, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away December 2, 2024. She was born June 29, 1948 in Sayre, Oklahoma to the late William Worth and Alletrys Capitola (Mackey) Lowe. Brinda was a graduate of Mclean High School, TX, and received her associate degree in business administration from Vincennes University. She was a devoted wife to Freddy J. Smith, for over 40 years and he preceded her in death on August 27, 2012. Brinda was a career civil servant and employed with NASA, the USDA, and lastly the Richard Roudebush Veteran’s Hospital, retiring to care for her husband during his own battle with cancer. Brinda was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. She was a dedicated soccer mom and taxi service for her children and grandchildren. She cherished being The Nana, the role she was born to play. She loved attending her grandchildren’s school and sporting events. She was an avid reader and puzzle solver. If given the opportunity, she would have been a phenomenal detective; her children and grandchildren were always caught. She enjoyed painting and watching Arsenal F.C. (Soccer Club in England), as she thought the coach was cute! Brinda was the most giving and caring person and will be deeply missed. Her devotion to her family is her legacy. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 17, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 East Washington Street. Brinda is survived by her children, Riley (Jessica) Smith, Heather (Jeremy her favorite son-in-law) Rochford, and Danny Smith; bonus daughters, Melissa Frazier and niece Diane Donahue; grandchildren, Xander and Hadleigh Smith; Kyleigh, Ashton, Hannah, and Brooklyn Turner; Jackson, Claire, and Charlotte “Lulu” Rochford; sisters, Nancy (Paul) Clark and Linda Seal; brothers, Steve (Katya) Lowe and Terry (Susan) Lowe; special sisters-in-law Trudy Lowe, Janet Lowe, and Sadie Smith Green; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her oldest sister and absolute best friend, Nona and brother-in-law Arvin Smith; and brothers, Dan, Bill, Jerry, Guy, and Ted Lowe.
