Gale I. McGrew, 94, of Fishers, passed away July 8, 2010. He was born September 8, 1915 in Hoopeston, IL, to the late John Harrison and Nettie Zela Williams McGrew. Gale was a 1933 graduate of Kokomo High School and he received his law degree from Indiana University. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a navigator, during World War II during the Korean War and retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel with 23 years of service. Gale served as an attorney for the Veterans Administration from 1946-1951 and as a JAG for the USAF from 1951 until his retirement in 1970. He then served in private practice and as an Executive Attorney to the Attorney General for the State of Indiana, retiring in 1982. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd. Gale is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Eva M. McGrew; children, Gloria McGrew Cooper (Fred), John H. McGrew (Kate), Carolyn Janette Murphy (Leigh); grandchildren, Kyle Cooper (Karin), Keith Cooper, Kirsten McGrew, Ian McGrew, Jennifer Press (Evan), Katie Holloway (Brian); great-grandchildren, Audrey Fern Cooper and Sarah Elizabeth Press. A sister, Laura A. Hayes, preceded him in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Austism Society of America, 4340 East-West Hwy., Ste. 350, Bethesda, MD, 20814.
